Obituary of Elizabeth Pearl Milbery

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Surrounded by her family, Elizabeth “Betty” Pearl Milbery, 89, of Clementsvale, NS peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on September 25, 2025. Also known to close family and friends as “Millie”, she was born in Victory, Nova Scotia on December 25, 1935, the only child of the late Pearl May Milbery and Titus Henry Darres.

Music was part of her soul and at the age of twelve, she began playing the pump organ in church and continued on as a church organist for the next fifty years of her life. She played mostly everything by ear as she always said “notes only slow me down!” During the 1950’s and 60’s, she played in a group called “The Five Dutchmen” with her father and 2 uncles. They performed at local events and dances. In the 1970’s, she learned to play flute and joined the Digby Community Band. Later, she then joined the Annapolis Basin Community Band led by her daughter, Jolene. Betty loved to dance and took up square dancing at the House Of Roth. Occupations throughout her life included telephone operator, mail transporter for Canada Post and store clerk.

She is remembered for her complete dedication and unconditional love to her family as well as friends. She was a Mom to many and will continue to be our light.

Betty is survived by her son, Barry Parker (Heather), Waldeck; daughter Jolene Buchholz (Ken), Clementsvale; five granddaughters, Brandy, Jessica, Melissa, Ayla (Dana) and Kaitlyn (Alex); and four great-grandchildren, Simon, Tristen, Sadie and Henry. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Milbery and son, Peter Parker.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

“Millie” was an avid gardener so donations may be made in her memory to the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. www.historicgardens.com
