John Edward Holmes
August 2, 1947 - October 21, 2019
John was born in Digby, the son of the late John Alton Holmes and Joyce (Height) Holmes (Wallace Maloney) of Lequille. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 24 years, Sandra Gauthier, Port Royal; sister Susan Holmes, Halifax; brother David Holmes (Shannon), Nictaux; children, Tim Holmes (Mabel LeClerc), Waldeck; Kim Weir (Bradley DeLong), Upper Clements; Kelly Webber (Scott), Dartmouth; step-daughters, Angela Horsfall (Barrie), Middleton; and Liz Bent (Gordie), Nictaux. Grampy to his loving grandchildren, Dustin, Brittany, Meghan, Chantel, Ross, Nathan, Aaron, Jayden and Tayah; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Mannon, Andre and Ethan.  John was predeceased by his sister Elaine.

John was a truck driver and mechanic. He worked 22 years with the Department of Agriculture before opening J & S Holmes Automotive. He enjoyed time spent sharing stories and experiences with family and friends, boating, camping, hunting and restoring antique cars. He shared his love of these things with the youngsters in the family, teaching them the required skills to do it the right way. His existence will be greatly missed but his presence will be felt in our hearts always.

Visitation will be held 7-9pm Friday with a funeral service being held 2pm Saturday October 26,both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Elisabeth Bachem-Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in Stoney Beach Cemetery. Donations in Johns memory may be sent to the Annapolis West Palliative Care.
