I took this photo of Stanley in July 2008, at the Annapolis Royal farmer's market. He was a lifelong neighbour of mine in Beaconsfield.

My deepest sympathies to Stanley's family. I ran the James House Tea Room in the early 90's and that is where I met Stanley Doods - he was a regular and we became friends - he was a true gentleman who loved nature and his flowers - loved his trips to Newfoundland for seedlings. He cared about people the same. Even when I moved away, he sent me a card now and then and when I came back to visit, we shared a coffee. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I offer my condolences and shall remember Stanley for he gave me one of his young Clivea plants, which I am so glad bloomed in time to thank him. Through this he lives on in my house. Thanks, Stanley.

My sincere sympathy to Stan's family and friends from a fellow rhododendron grower. Stan visited my Mum and I to get clippings to add to his collection. We always enjoyed his company. He will be greatly missed by the whole community of Annapolis & Bridgetown as he remained an active member in music and gardening circles. God's blessings to you all.

We offer our sympathy on your loss. As one-time summer residents of Bridgetown and members of the Atlantic Rhodie and Hort Society, we appreciated Stan`s loyalty and enthusiasm in the world of plant lovers. We will be interested to know when a date and location for the spring 2012 celebration of his life have been settled.
