Margaret Cottrill posted a condolence
Friday, March 26, 2021
I am so sorry to hear about Bonnie's passing. She was the first cousin of my father, Jim Cottrill of Kincardine. Her father, Todd, was the brother of my paternal grandfather, Val. I lived in Kincardine until 1970 so I saw Bonnie from time to time, especially during the summer. She was my older, very impressive, sweet and friendly cousin whom I greatly admired. I always enjoyed seeing her and talking to her. My heart goes out to her family and I send them my deepest sympathy.

To Peter Smith and family
What a shock it was to hear that Bonnie had passed away. It seems like only yesterday that we were raising our young families together here in St. John's. At this time of the year we remember the Christmas tree-cutting parties with the many other friends and their children, with the great pot-lucks at which Bonnie was a leader and big contributor to the food, drink and merriment. And of course throughout the year there was supper club, bridge parties and the community work that she did. She will be fondly remembered by many in St. John's. We hope that you are able to take some comfort from these happy memories, and the great times we shared over 30 years.

I first met Bonnie and Peter at a dinner out with my kids and their grand kids. I took an immediate liking to both her and Peter. She had a great sense of humour and a wonderful smile. One of my kids favourite childhood memories was spending a weekend at their house in Bridgetown with Victoria and Danny. Bonnie always took good care of Todd and I on our golf trips down to play at Eden. She always made sure we had enough to eat that we were comfortable whenever we stayed at their wonderful home. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere I always experienced with her, whether at the house in Bridgetown or at the cottage. One of my favourite memories of Bonnie was sitting on the outdoor veranda at the house listing to her fill me in on all the locals in Bridgetown. She will be truly missed.
