Elizabeth Marie Fash (Parsons) passed away peacefully surrounded by her familyJune 29, 2021 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Clayton Park, Nova Scotia. Born May 9, 1929, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Betty was the only child of Otto and Emma Parsons who last resided in Granville Ferry. She lived a full and well travelled life, growing up in Sydney and Montreal, and then later with her husband and best friend Reg (born in Bridgetown) after they met and fell in love at Acadia University. As they started their married life as a military family, Betty and Reg resided in Picton Ontario, Oromocto N.B., Montreal, Soest Germany, back to Oromocto and finally to Bridgetown in 1970. Betty was never afraid of challenges, underscored in 1975 when she decided to upgrade her business skills and enrolled in Bridgetown High School as a classmate of two of her children, which led to her taking on a job she loved with DeBoer Homes in Bridgetown. Betty and Reg retired to Granville Ferry and ultimately to Annapolis Royal. Following Reg’s death she moved to Halifax. Betty has been an energetic bright light in her children and grandchildren’s lives and lately she loved catching up with FaceTime video calls and hearing all the news and stories about what everyone was up to. She is survived by her children Glenn (Montreal), Greg (Shediac) and Lori (Halifax); daughter in law Debbie (Roode); grandchildren Ben, Scott, and Meghan (Shellnutt) and their spouses Assal (Araghian), Danelle (Werstiuk) and Steve Shellnutt; and finally her great grandchildren Colton, Cameron and Lucy. She is remembered as a happy, caring Mom and Gram with a big smile and easy laugh who was also an amazing cook. Her recipes are in active use by two subsequent generations. Betty and the family would also like to recognize and thank the outstanding people at Parkland Clayton Park and Parkstone Enhanced Care for all the wonderful care and friendship extended over the past 15 years. A special thank you to all the staff at Point Pleasant Way, Parkstone Enhanced Care, for taking such great care of Betty throughout her stay and especially in her last days. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Betty will be laid to rest in Port Wade beside her beloved Reg in a private family service. At Betty’s request there will be no funeral service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
