My Steele connections are only through Ian, but after 20+ years of working with Ian, the topic of our parents has come up more than once, and I know from stories how much your dad/husband/grandfather will be missed. I can also say that he leaves a great legacy behind, with a wonderful son and family that I am so grateful to have in my life. May you find strength in family, friends and community in the days to come.

Dear Mary and family,
For once we are speechless- not knowing what to say to bring comfort to all of you. Jim will always be known as a pillar, a mainstay, of our community. Not just in a professional sense, but also for how he included people in the sharing of stories and advice. With the beautiful views from the decks of your home, there was a sense of comfort and timelessness, and not a small measure of laughter.
While life today often confounds us, it’s people like Jim, who always centered us and brought things back into perspective.
He will be so greatly missed,
With love,
Anne Pollett and Morris Walker

I have known Jim since the very early 70's....and during all that time, I never lost contact with Jim, nor Mary, his wife. Many wonderful get togethers, parties at the Shore, TGIF's, dinner parties........just wonderful times, never to be forgotten.
Jim was always up on financial news, world news, local politics, you name it - he was so well read on so many issues. And he could quote facts and figures on the ups and downs of the financial world.
Such a wonderful friend, and we shall miss him very much. Luckily my husband, Jim Pettitt had the opportunity to meet him a number of times and got to know him for the amazing man he was. Both of us are very grateful for that.
Our thoughts are with Mary, her sons and their families.
