Thank you to everyone who has supported our family since Mom passed away on Feb. 28, 2022. It has been incredible - the offers of help, food, cards, messages, flowers, donations, and in-person and online attendance at her celebration of life on March 11. We move forward with Mom held tightly in our hearts and memories, knowing that she is having a grand time talking and laughing with those who have gone before her, and that we have amazing family and friends surrounding us here.

My sincere condolences to Mary Anne 's family. What a remarkable lady. She was so kind and friendly with everyone regardless of your " social status ". She treated everyone equally. When she talked to you she had a way of making you feel like you were special. I had the pleasure of working with her in the theater and through the hospital. Mary Anne gave her all to anything she did. May she enjoy life eternal with Charlie.

I am not good with words, so please bare with me. First of all I'd like to send my deepest condolences to family and friends you've lost an angel. Maryanne was one of the strongest , most determined ladies I have every met in my lifetime. As her caregiver I'm regretful that I had to leave her early, but I know in my heart she fought until the very end. Even though Maryanne was suffering , she always made sure I was not hungry, and comfortable at night time, as she always wanted me in the big chair beside her. I will always think of you, and I know you have no more pain, ill see you on the other side, (and I'll start my exercises soon❤) Thankyou for being my friend...

I grew up on the Fickes farm in Allan's Creek and remember Mary Anne from the time she came to Annapolis Royal as the Public Health Nurse. I remember going to her beautiful home when she gave our Girl Guide Company our instructions for the First Aid Badge. She was a lovely lady and when my mom moved to the Senior's Complex in town, which Mary Anne helped arrange, she never failed to visit her every year. My most sincere condolences to Mary Anne's family.

So sorry to hear about your mum. Although I remember when she came to Annapolis Royal, I was still in school. But it was wonderful to get to know her when I returned home for a few years. We would chat at choir practice and I loved her sense of humour. She also shared such wise words of comfort when my husband passed away suddenly a few years ago. She was a great lady and will be missed.
With sympathy and love

Mary-Ann was a gracious lady with a sweet, sweet soul. She let us use her wharf at her summer home in Chester Basin for many many years and always greeted us with a wave and a big smile .The wee sailboat Adagio and her crew of Burches appreciated her kindness

Deepest condolences to Mary Anne's family.
I knew her as another retired nurse as well as through various activities in Annapolis Royal including joint United Church Women's gatherings. We talked about possible Pugsley connections, too, of my first cousin's "other" side of Pugsleys in Five Islands.
Mary Anne was always a delight to be around.
My husband, Jack, remembers her as his Health Nurse back in the 50's in the little Clementsport Schoolhouse.
May there be lots of good memories to guide you through these times.

I was Mary Ann's minister for 15 years from 1991 until 2006. She was a member of the choir during that time and very much involved in various other aspects of church life. I also enjoyed talking to her by phone a few months ago. One particular fond memory is that often in the spring she would go up to Cumberland County and when she returned she would drop in with a very generous supply of maple sugar treats which we greatly enjoyed. Wishing all the family God's comport as the days go by.

Aunt Mary Ann was one of a kind…she was a great talker, she loved to laugh, she was always interested and always had a surprise in store! Anytime she came to town my children would be on the receiving end of teasing and tormenting, in good fun of course, and she could get them to eat everything on their plates like no other. They had a lot of fun together! In my younger years I always watched the mailbox for her letters. She was my very first pen pal. Then of course as I got older it was an hour or more on the phone. Lots of great stories and many memories I will not forget. Heather, Barbara and families, I am so very sorry for your loss. A couple of pics of our moms ❤️

Mom / Grammie loved life - a big laugh, socializing with long phone or in person conversations with friends, volunteering in her community.
Her wishes for her obituary were to highlight her family and be modest and humble with her community volunteer work and organizations, thus not every group she participated in are listed - and there were many more!
Those who knew Mom also know that she always loved to dress in bright colours! She was adamant that we never buy her black coloured clothing when shopping for gifts for her!
In honour of her passion for bright colours, Barbara and I are asking anyone who plans to attend her funeral to break with tradition and refrain from wearing all black. Break out those bright spring colours for her celebrtion of life!
