I went to Aunt Mildreds house only once but felt at ease and loved right away. I have a picture of us sitting in her living room, visiting and enjoying each others company. She will be missed. Sending love and condolences to the family at this time.

So many Scrabble games! I came close to winning only once — but then she got a 7 letter-triple word score — which she always mentioned to me for years and years after haha. She could even remember the very details of the words she played before and on to get that huge score haha. What a mind!
And the detail of the stories she could tell whether about the good old days or the pranks she pulled! But it was her kindness and devotion to her family and friends that will be remembered the most. The costumes she sewed for everyone, the time and attention to the many details for her Sunday School classes, the elaborate square dancing outfits for her and Edwin. And she just loved dressing up for Halloween! She was the crazy one and we loved her for it!
And of course — all the times at the cottage. Your memories within those you touched will last for a long, long, long time Mil. We miss you and your smiles greatly, but now so many people have been inspired to do better and to be better because you touched them. That is true legacy. You are very much still alive and loved in the minds and actions of those who took the time to know you.

Great aunt Mildred was a wonderful, dear and witty person. I'm extremely sad to hear of her passing. I've enjoyed our many visits! She was a talented oil painter and was always very proud of her kids and grandkids when talking about their artwork and talents. Her paintings inspired me to no end.
My wife Elizabeth worked as a caregiver at Annapolis nursing home and absolutely adored her. We often chuckle about her telling us matter-of-factly that she doesn't play cards to have fun, but to win! ..Followed by: "What's the point of playing if you don't win?" She had all the beautiful qualities that I loved about Great Grammy Duke.
My condolences are with her children and grandchildren at this time. I really wish we had more visits with her this year, she will be missed.

Dear Kim, Kevin and family. I'm sending my heartfelt condolences to you all with the passing of Mrs Burrell.
I remember loving the time spent in Sunday School in our little Clementsport Church all because of Mrs. Burrell. She was so creative and enthusiastic, keeping us little folks engaged and entertained (and quiet?) through her teaching and art projects.
I have attached a photo from one of our Christmas Concerts that I have no doubt she was instrumental in orchestrating. She will be missed by many.
Sincerely,
Becca Griffin

I was fortunate enough to have Mildred in my care for the last little while. We very quickly became fast friends and she would often say just sit with me for a little while, she’d hold my hand the whole time as we just talked. I could never leave her without getting one of the very best hugs ever and being told I love you as I would head back to work! She’d say when are you coming back? One of my fondest memories was the story of her doll that had been lovingly restored by her daughter in law and how she had received this doll from her dad as a little girl. I will miss you dearly beautiful lady and continue to give love to those who need it most, love you Milly B xo

Mildred was my friend and I loved her. She was generous with her hugs, so good at telling funny stories (usually at her own expense), and just so comfy and hospitable and engaging to be with. I am so grateful to have had her in my life and will carry her always in my heart. I am so very sad that she is gone, but just thinking about her makes me smile. I love you, Mildred. Thank you for being in my life.

She was the highlight of my cleaning shifts at the Annapolis Nursing Home. I loved being able to sit and talk with her in between loads of laundry, the stories she had were incredible.
Work won’t be the same without her ❤️
