Obituary of Gordon Enoch Mitchell

Mitchell, Gordon Enoch – 67, Port Lorne, Annapolis County, passed away May 30, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Enoch and Marguerite (Healy) Mitchell. In his younger years he liked to fish, hunt, and go for rides on his motorcycle and snowmobile. Gordon will be remembered for his huge kind heart, great sense of humor, his grin, always having a story to tell, sharing his love of history and willing to help anyone in need. Enjoyed time spent with his friends and enjoying a beer. Loved his dogs. Was a volunteer firefighter for Port Lorne and District Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years; a DJ for many dances and weddings; he liked to knit or re-knit mittens, gloves or sweaters; was a great cook, which he loved to do and had a large collection of cookbooks, made pickles which he loved to share. Worked as a carpenter later fishing on the boats Bay View, Scotia Mist and Scotia Mist II until his health declined and he had to retire. Continued to keep an eye on the weather reports and was glad when the men were all safely back at Port. Gordon is survived by his sons, William “Alex”, New Minas; Brandyn (Jesse), New Mexico and Kendall, Port Lorne; brothers, Lesley, St. Croix Cove and Carroll (Marsha), Clarence; nephew, Dale (Shanda), St. Croix Cove ; nieces, Darla and Bonnita (Mike), both of Halifax; Tiffany (Ryan), New Minas; Brianna (Mike), Beaconsfield; great niece, Olivia; great nephew, Raiden. Predeceased by his sister-in-law, Judy. Following Gordon’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with no visitation. An informal celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 2-4 pm at the Port Lorne Volunteer Fire Hall, 532 Port Lorne Road. Everyone is welcome.
