OBITUARY
The death of Vinna Minnie Pierce (Matchett) of Crosskill Court, Bridgetown, NS occurred peacefully on August 11, 2022 surrounded by her family at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS.
Vinna was born on December 14, 1925 in Lyttleton, NB to parents Russell and Louise Matchett. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Basil, brothers Eldon and Edward, and sisters Bella, Roberta (Birdie), and Shirley and also infant son Phillip and infant great-grandchild Olivia.
Left to mourn are her son Paul and his wife Ardena, daughter Winnie Lou and her husband George as well as grandchildren Andre, Darren (Christa), Pamela, Christopher (Kihye), and Heather (Mark) and great grandchildren Jaxon, George III, Tanner, Sofia, and Norah as well as her brother Russell and sisters Marilyn, Dessie and Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vinna was an accomplished homemaker and at one point had worked for seven years at United Elastics in Bridgetown. While still in her early teens Vinna had accepted God as her Lord and Saviour. From that point on her spirit in the Lord guided her life and filled her with a passion to minister to the needs of others. Throughout her married life of more than seventy years she was a pillar of support to her husband as they served together to carry out God’s work in the churches of several communities, providing care and comfort to all in need of support. Dearly loved by friends and family, she will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home in Bridgetown on Wednesday, August 17, at 2:00 PM, followed by internment in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the same location On Tuesday, August 16, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Grant Goodine, Karole, Rosie, Elaine and Sandi for their amazing care and support while Vinna lived at Crosskill Court and also our most sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ken McGuire and the nurses and staff at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
