My Great Aunt Doris was amazingly kind, generous, non-judgemental and loving. I loved visiting her in my youth when we played cards and ate her delicious fresh baked cookies. She was always sweet and supportive to me and my family as she was with all those who knew and loved her dearly. Remembering her means remembering that there are good people ❤️

To the Hicks family,
Your Mother was the most wonderful friend to my Mother, Gertrude Prat. I remember many pleasant cups of tea with Doris at her home, when I would visit Bridgetown. She was a genuine lady and an interesting person to chat with.
And then there were all good times at the family home in the Lane. Such Fun and she was so good to us. Thinking of you Nancy.
With love and sympathy to you all.

Dear Lyn, Nancy, Ed and Kirk - so many memories. Your Mother, my Aunti Doris, (as I knew her) was such a big part of my life. So many wonderful hours spent in the Hicks family home. Fond memories of timing it just right for when those delicious cookies came out of the stove, I knew where the jam was kept around the corner in the pantry, a loving mother listening to Nancy and me practise our duet for a choral competition. And Saturday evenings spent there watching Lawrence Welk with Mr. Hicks. Really, my second home and I always felt welcome.
When I moved away after school graduation, I never failed to visit with Aunti Doris whenever I came home. Still very much a part of my life.
My sincere condolences to you all - her family. May she now find peace.
Love, Bliss

On numerous occasions, I had the pleasure of encountering Mrs. Hicks because our 1950's high school crowd - girls and boys - often invaded "The Lane". And there she was, always with the warmest of smiles and cheery conversation, but with her mother's watchful eye and unspoken - but you darn well knew it was there - sense of decorum, particularly when we were off to the school dance. Mrs. Hicks, one of my most favorite people. Crystal-clear, happy memories of her in those halcyon days will remain with me always. Blessed to have known her. I'll pick one of the Southern Hemisphere stars here and when I see it, it will remind me of her. My deepest condolences to your immediate and entire family. -. Bob in Manila, the Philippines.
