Obituary of Hughena Venetia Hubley

Hughena Venetia Hubley, was the cherished daughter of the late Alden and Zula (Harnish) Hubley, born 2 July 1932 and died on 1 December 2022. 

 

Formerly of Annapolis Royal, she was an Honours Graduate of the Annapolis Royal Academy.  Hughena then obtained her R.N. designation from the Yarmouth Regional Hospital School of Nursing.  Afterwards, she taught at the school of nursing and obtained a post graduate certificate in Operating Room and Emergency Nursing.  Hughena was employed by the Annapolis General Hospital and at the CFB Cornwallis Hospital.  Continuing her education, Hughena achieved a certificate in Hospital Organization and Management from the Canadian Hospital Association followed by a degree in Business Administration from the Dalhousie University School of Management.  Hughena served as the CEO of the Annapolis General hospital for 32 years until her retirement.

 

Hughena was predeceased by her brother Gordon and is survived by her nephew Allan (Wendy) Hubley of Ottawa, Ontario, her niece Kim of Bedford, NS, and many cousins.  The family wants to thank everyone who made Hughena’s life so enjoyable including her extraordinary PSW’s, the amazing staff at QEII hospital and dear cousin to Hughena – Tim Miah.
