I met Cecil a few times when my Mother lived at Saunders. He was the only gentleman at Saunders at that time. I can’t say that I knew him, just observed him working in the yard and giving a pleasant smile and nod when I visited. What I can say is how much I admired the staff and particularly Frances Saunders, who made a home for this gentleman, treating him like a family member when he had no other. Rest in peace Cecil.

Cecil Brown quietly won your heart. He never asked for any favors but in his own quiet way, he amassed many favors. Loved ice cream and would spend all his exhibition money on ice cream cones. Never complained about the weather or his duties. He thrived on hard work at his own pace but fishing was probably his greatest enjoyment. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Saunders Rest Home where Cecil spent his last years quite happily. Rest in peace Cecil. Your final resting place will be the cemetry you loved to visit. You left an impression with all those who got to know you.

What a lovely tribute for such a sweet man. Cecil will definitely be missed in town.
Having lived around the corner from Saunders Rest Home, there were many days Cecil would assist me in spring/fall clean-up in my yard, dragging long branches, and raking leaves, to the old fire pit to burn later. He was such a joy to chat with, and he had great advice for me with many of my shrubs in the yard. I’ve missed him the past three years since my move.
My condolences to his family and close friends.

A lovely obituary.
I remember Cecil from when he lived in Clarence and also at Saunders Rest Home. A man of few words,a hard worker, a quiet sense of humor and always interested in the what was happening on our farm.
Rest In Peace CECIL.

My condolences go out to Cecil’s family. I grew up on the farm Cecil worked on. He was the hardest worker on the farm. He would take his axe to the woods and we wouldn’t see him until dark. He was one of a kind and will be sadly missed.
