Obituary of Elizabeth Iris Heather Halliday
It is with heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved Mom, Betty, on April 13, age 82, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Born Elizabeth (Betty) Iris Heather Halliday (Marcellus) in Wyevale, ON September 30, 1940. Betty was raised in Wyevale with her sisters Clara Adams (dec), Mildred Van Der Voort (dec), Marie Walton (Bill) and brother Lynn Marcellus (dec). In Betty’s younger days she moved to Toronto to work at the Workers Compensation Board. She met her husband Daniel Halliday (dec) from Parkers Cove while in Toronto and were married on August 5th, 1961 finally settling in Stroud, ON to raise their family Heather Halliday-White (Paul dec) and Shelley Halliday (Brad Potter). She worked for many years at Towers Dept Store and Standard Trust. Betty and Dan decided in 1994 to retire in Parkers Cove, NS. While living in NS, Betty worked at Upper Clements Park and The Cove Campground. She enjoyed outings with friends, church retreats, travel and her music.
She loved having her grandchildren Tonya Saunders (dec), Kelsey McGill (Doug) and Christopher White come to Parkers Cove every summer. Betty was a devoted member of nearly 30 years of the Parkers Cove Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, at Betty’s request, memorial donations can be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held Tuesday April 18th, 2023 at Parkers Cove Baptist Church from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at Parkers Cove Baptist Church on Wednesday April 19, 2023 at 3:00 pm followed by a gathering in the churches main room. All are welcome.
