Jean and family:
Joan and I send sincere condolences to you on Russell’s passing.
My thoughts turned to NSAC during the 1959-60 year when I first made the acquaintance of Russell and yourself. A lot of hay has been thrown in front of the cows since then but I have always enjoyed meeting and having a “game of talk” with you both at farm meetings and 4-H get togethers.
Our thoughts are with you and may God’s peace be with you in the days ahead. May you remember all the good times with Russell.

Jean and Family
We are saddened to hear of Russell's suddenand unexpected passing. Heather and I met Jean and Russell in the 1980's when Jamie was looking for a place to stay in Halifax while he played Junior A hockey for Halifax with our son Allan.
Jamie became part of our family, while Jean and Russell became good fiends of our family as we cheered on the hockey team.
Russell was also very supportive of Jamie while he stayed with us while attending Dalhousie University.
We offer our best wishes, condolances, and prayers to Russell's family.
He will be missed as a father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, community member, and a very successful farmer in the Valley.
Heather and Terry Hennigar

Jean & Family : We were so shocked and saddened when we heard of Russ’s sudden passing. Although we have been separated, all these years, by many miles, it was always a great time when we did get together, or talk on the phone. Unfortunately, we are all at that point in our lives when we don’t know when the check will be beside our name, as gone but never forgotten. His name has a check as a great friend. Jean, Marianne, Jamie, Bruce, (partner in crime),Joy,
I could write a book filled with memories of Russell and all the experiences we shared. He would always tease me about my boyfriend in Ottawa and how could I let him make decisions that weren’t sensible. I soon realized he was talking about Justin Trudeau. Joy and I were always up to no good so Russell thought he would teach us a lesson. We were told to go and herd the cattle to a different location. Joy and I decided to run and make it a race. At one point I felt very light on my feet and noticed I had left my rubbers boots behind me in the mud. When Joy and I finally found the cattle we started yelling and making all kinds of noises. Russell had told us not to let the cows go into the trees. Well let’s just say we didn’t do our job very well. They scattered and Joy and I frantically tried everything. I guess Russell felt we endured enough and yelled a few times and the cows immediately followed Russell‘a voice. Joy and I were exhausted. He had a good sense of humour and a mischievous side. I have many fond memories of Russell and I cherish every one of those memories.
I will miss him very much.

Russell was a special person with an unwavering sense of joy and justice.
I have been forever thankful for that night at Mac when he took the rotor button from the tractor i had "borrowed" from the farm. That action kept from getting on more trouble.
Wonderful memories.
