I worked with Phil from 2010 to 2012 when we worked together at Community INC. He was always very upbeat and cheerful and very dedicated to helping clients find their perfect job. He often made me laugh and was a lot of fun to work with.
One of my more notable memories of Phil is when I was driving from Kentville to my home in Middleton during a Nor'easter. My wipers couldn't keep up with the snow so I was a little panicked afraid of driving in a ditch. Phil drove in front of me leading the way and when I needed to stop to clear my windshield, he was right there beside me helping me clear it. After he saw me safely home he had to retrace his journey to get back to his home in Wilmot. I've never forgotten his unselfish act. This shows the true character of Phil Ward. He will be sadly missed by many people.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and everyone that loved Phil. I had the privilege of working with Phil when he was the registrar with the NSCDA. Phil was always a professional, such an authentic person and a joy to work with. I admired Phil’s ability to always see the lighter side during stressful situations, how he could sooth frayed nerves and was always there to assist with trouble shooting, support or words of encouragement. I am very thankful I knew Phil. This is a huge loss to many.

His commendable efforts as registrar at the NSCDA, and significant contribution to building the CCDP network throughout our province shall never be forgotten. His vivid presence will continue living in our hearts - his absence deeply felt. Rest peacefully, dear friend.

The NSCDA and staff send our deepest condolences to Phil’s family.
Phil was an integral part of our NSCDA team spearheading the delivery of our programs and doing it with a great amount of care for the profession and his colleagues. He was always up for a conversation, always willing to go the extra mile and always interested in doing the best he could for everyone. He had a ready smile, a hearty laugh, a friendly handshake and always leaned in to make you the focus of his attention.
I spoke to Phil recently and it was so obvious that he had found his happiness in the Valley. I felt better just talking to him.
We will honour Phil’s contribution both to our work and the positive difference he made in the lives of others. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family. When I first started at the NSCDA, Phil was deployed as the “welcome wagon” to help me settle in and feel at home with the team. I quickly learned that was his natural talent - even beyond being a great public speaker, he was an engaging and energizing conversationalist, and had the ability to make you feel like you were important and included in any conversation. His presence was as warm and as kind as sunlight, and I can’t imagine many who met him weren’t also warmed by his open and gregarious nature.
My condolences to the family on this devastating loss. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him and a light for those he loved.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Phil’s passing. I have been working with Phil for just over a year with Community Inc. He was a funny, kind, and sincere person. He always came into our office with a smile on his face even though some days we knew he was in pain. Though I haven’t known him for long he has made a lasting impression on me. Sincere condolences to Suzanne, and his children Shay and Ryan, as well as his grandchildren, other family members and friends. RIP Phil

I am saddened by the loss of Phil. I knew him for many years and worked alongside him in many different ways. I was lucky enough to have him as our Office Manager at Community Inc. I always appreciated and enjoyed Phil's "Realness" and how much he truly cared and tried to help in any way he possibly could. His big smile was almost as big as his heart and love for others. I am so happy our paths crossed!! My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and friends

Phil was a stellar human whose life mattered to so many of us. I worked with him through the career development stuff in the mid 2000's and his generous heart, compassion, and faith in humanity were well known. Perhaps too humble a person to recognize how much he helped those around him.

Phil, or "Philly" as I nicknamed him many moons ago, was a dear co-worker who gave his all to help clients in need, and then all of us around the province in the NS Works system when he left us to join the NSCDA. He did great work, he was always smiling, and cared about everyone.
I remember how many coffees Phil would drink in the run of a day in earlier years (An obscene amount of caffeine went into his body - likely why I never saw him sitting still for any length of time lol), to when he cut back and started along a healthier journey. It is so very sad to see him gone after all of that.
My heart goes out to Susanna, Shay and Phil's grandbabies. He talked about you often with so much love and pride.
May you be comforted by the love and happy memories you shared.
