Celebration of Life
Obituary of Carol Marguerite Lockyer
LOCKYER, Carol Marguerite (nee Noseworthy), Deep Brook, NS.
It is with broken hearts, unbelievable shock and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend on October 20, 2023 at her home in Deep Brook, NS.
She was born in 1948, St John’s, NL, to the late Graham and Doris Noseworthy. Our Carol epitomized strength, loyalty, love and independence from her first breath.
The oldest girl of 10 children, Carol leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate of 54 years, Norman. Their children Jennifer (Harry Thurlow), Christopher (Ashley) and Jefferey (Lisette). Six precious grandchildren Aiden, Cooper, Josie, Neela, Seth and Gabriel. These grandkids gave her boundless energy and many a sore throat as she rooted for them in Dance and sporting events.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Graham (Debby), Greg (Sandi), Rick (Brenda deceased), Cheryl (Max), Ken (Brenda), Rod (Gerri), Celeste (Chris), Charlyn (Jack), Mark (Gail). Sister-in-law Sylvia Berry (Scott) and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She so enjoyed her walks with Julie Moore and patio chats with the Kinney’s and Pettipas’. As treasurer of St. Edwards Parish, she was a committed member and enjoyed the dedication of Wayne and Linda Isles. Many memories were made playing cards with Dave and Marion Annis.
Carol was an involved and intense mother for her children as a nonstop volunteer for their special interests. She also loved working with her hands as a “jill of all trades”. There was not a piece of furniture that was safe from resurfacing. No telling how many Christmas stockings she knitted for family and their cats. The family property in Deep Brook kept her busy and proud of her many flowers and greenery.
When first married, Carol worked in St John’s; from there she followed Norman to various positions in the fish business from Burgeo, NL; Halifax, NS; Port Aux Basques, NL and finally settling in Deep Brook in 1988 where he worked with O’Neil Fisheries Ltd in Digby. Carol later took the position of Supervisor at the Provincial Tourist Bureau in Digby. How she loved talking about NS and offering directions and advice to the countless visitors at the bureau and onboard the Digby to Saint John ferry
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at St. Edwards Church, 1650 Highway 1, Clementsport, Ann Co, NS, on Friday, October 27 commencing at 11am. A Reception will follow at the Clementsport Legion, 2008 Highway 1, Clementsport, Ann Co, NS. from 1:00-3:00PM.
The family would like to acknowledge those who have kept us going with food and words of encouragement during this very sad time. Also thanks to Father Ken Vaughan for his guidance. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
“She was our best friend, our greatest advocate and loudest fan. She will never be replaced”.
