Tammy, Jackie and family, it was a privilege to know and work with your mom at BRHS and I am so sorry for your loss.
There are so many memories from our time working in the office, but one treasured keepsake I received from her at Christmas, continues to make me smile and laugh every year. It's a plush dog sitting in a gift box that a salesman brought in one year that drove her crazy as almost every student who walked into the office during the day pushed the button that made it break into song and dance. Well, she thought it was always the students but sometimes it was just me walking by the counter, pushing the dog's button and eventually I got caught. Guess what she gave me that Christmas? My kids and now grandkids love annoying me every Christmas by continuously pushing that button, and I think of Debbie laughing when she wrapped that gift.
Her dedication to school and community, her kindness and friendship, and that great sense of humor will not be forgotten.

My condolences to Debbie’s family. So sad to read of her passing. I was a member of her class throughout the Lawrencetown years and as well during our graduating year at Middleton Regional High. Jackie & Tammy:
So sorry to here of your mom's passing. My found memory of her was at the Senior Nationals in Regina, where she, Anita, and Valarie took gold on a very windy day. On the way to the facility, Debbie said we should stop for ice cream after the game. I told the ladies if they won gold Buster Ice cream at the DQ was on me and we sure enjoyed that taste after the win. I always admired your mon as a competitor(chasing her bowls down the rink), and as a friendly caring person. So Deb, may you rest in peace and continue to chase that bowl down the rink.

Tammy, Jackie, David and families. My heart hurts for you all on the loss of your "Mamma Bear" and sister. Debbie and my mom spent so many years together on the greens. They were the "force to be reckoned with". Your mom was a beautiful soul and I was so happy that she was such a good friend to mom before and after dad passed. Her absence will be like the sky, spread out over everything.

You were an angel in the shape of my mum

Spread your wings and I know
That when God took you back he said Hallelujah
You're home"

Tammy and Jackie and Dave and family,
My most vivid memory, is a story , I have told many times. Tammy and Jackie were both young and I was asked by Debbie and Peter to babysit for a week. Peter had to work and Debbie was at the National Lawn Bowling Championships in B C. One day I asked Tammy and Jackie if they wanted homemade French fries for lunch. They said yes so I instructed them to pick the potatoes from the garden. They did and I started heating up the oil, I went into the TV room to ask Tammy what she wanted to drink . I went back into the kitchen and the pot was on fire. I put the fire out but there was a lot of smoke damage. Peter came home and just laughed and said insurance would cover it . My mom was not so understanding.
Once Debbie returned from the lawn bowling championship she called me up to her house. It was the longest walk of my life. I walked into the house and Debbie gave me a big hug. She wasn’t upset and wanted to pay me for babysitting. Of course I did not take the money. It just shows how kind Debbie was and very forgiving. She was a wonderful, kind and caring person. She meant a lot to so many people and she will be missed.

The first memory I have of bowling against Debbie was at an Atlantic Bowls tournament in Beaconsfield, QC (not sure of the year). Needless to say Debbie and her partner were creaming us, but, we finally did get on the scoreboard and I turned to Debbie and told her she better cover her eyes from the smoke - we were now on fire! Yup - they still creamed us!! We laughed and we laughed afterwards.
Debbie is definitely on her way to heaven with her 'buddies' - no bias required. Rest In Peace my friend.
Deepest condolences, Tammy and Jackie.

You never really needed a schedule to know when Debbie was playing. She was usually the most active on the green, running ;skipping and giving various commands to her bowl as it travelled down the green and came to a stop. These were no ordinary lawn bowls; Debbie referred to them as “little buddies”.There were numerous times when a loud scream would would ensue. You knew then “little buddy”had followed her command to perfection. You will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Debbie's passing. Throughout my high school years, she was the voice on the PA system at BRHS. She was the source of all help at the office, knowing how to direct us to who or what we needed. She was the neighbor who walked past with a smile and wave in the evening. When I walked back into BRHS 20 years later as a teacher, hers was the first smile I saw; having her still in the office made me feel as if I had come home. I know that her family was an extremely important part of her life, as was representing our community, our province, and our country through lawn bowling, but to me - and to generations - Debbie was as much a part of BRHS as the very bricks from which it was built. I send my deepest condolences to the family and hope they can find some solace in the many legacies she left behind.

Over many years Debbie was first considered a talented and sometimes intimidating opponent. Later she became a cherished friend and teammate. We shared a special time in New Zealand where we discovered our love of wine. Sharing her passion for bowls with her daughters is one of the greatest gifts she gave her bowling family. Many memories made with them especially last summer and their gold medal in fours. I will miss you dear friend. Life will difficult for both Tammy and Jackie without you but they will persevere and live following your example. Thank you for letting us say goodbye this summer. I will always remember that glass of chardonnay! We will watch over your girls!
