Obituary of Theresa Rita Melanson
Theresa Rita “Terry” Melanson- 90, formerly of Clementsport, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully at Tideview Terrace, Digby, Nova Scotia on October 29th, 2023. Born in Nottingham, England on December 28th, 1932. Daughter of the late Alice Elizabeth MacDonald of Halifax, NS and Ernest William Wright, also of Nottingham, England.
Terry had a vast career while being a nurse with the Military. In 1953 she worked in Winnipeg during the Polio Pandemic. For 4 years she worked and lived in Canada, Germany and the US as a S.A.R Nurse.
Through the 1970’s, Terry worked for the Department of Health here in Nova Scotia and she initiated and formed the Palliative Care here in Annapolis Royal. In the 1980’s she worked with the AIDS Hospice in California. She gave 12 years of her time and care with the Girl Guides of Canada. She also was a proud member of Good Neighbors Club in Clementsport. Terry was an avid knitter, and helped out with the Christmas Daddies. You could find her out in the garden on most days, her specialty was her roses.
She is predeceased by her husband Raymond; daughter, Sharon Webber (John); sons, Kenneth and Christopher; sister, Mary Brown (late Don Brown); brother, Frank; niece, Karen Brown and nephew, Tony. Terry leaves behind her foster daughter, Debbie Rice (Ontario); granddaughter, Tonya Webber; half-sister, Nancy (Florida) along with several nieces and nephews from England.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A service for Terry will be held 11:00 am on Monday, November 6th, in St. Louis Catholic Church, Annapolis Royal. Burial to follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Terry’s memory may be made to the Annapolis Community Health Center, Palliative Care Unit.
