Obituary of Margaret Helen Dempsey

Safe in the arms of Jesus, the passing of “Maggie” Margaret Helen Dempsey occurred at Kentville, Nova Scotia on December 6, 2023.

Born in Dalhousie, NB on June 15, 1934, “Maggie” is the beloved daughter of the late William B. Dempsey and Mildred M. (Noel) Dempsey.  Survived by her seven children Mary Anne (Rick) Dymond, London, ON; Jenny Tardif Flaherty, Kentville, NS; Austin (Cheryl Meade) Tardif, Grande Prairie, AB; Theresa (Chris) Banks, Greenwood, NS; John Tardif, NS; Aaron (Eva Smith) Tardif, Murray River, PE; Willa Tardif Bain, Edmonton AB; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and sister Karen (Donald) Lecours of Kingston Ontario.  Predeceased by sisters Donna and Marsha, brothers Austin and Robert, 1 great grandchild.

In her early years, “Maggie” received her bookkeeping and shorthand certificates from The Business Education World, and worked in the office of the Ganong Chocolate Factory in St. Stephen, NB.  One of her favorite Christmas treats is the famous Ganong Original Chicken Bones.

“Maggie” is fondly remembered as “Grandma Dempsey” by her grandchildren, and as “Auntie June” by her nieces and nephews.  Maggie loved to string a good yarn while enjoying her favorite pastime, knitting, and a hot cup of tea, while listening to classical music or gospel songs.   She loved cats, ocean views, quilting, and pressing leaves in a book, and she dearly loved to tell others about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   Maggie’s final years were spent at Saunders’ Rest Home in Bridgetown, NS.

Resting at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, NS, where the Funeral mass will take place at 2pm on Friday December 8th.  Interment at St. Alphonsus Church Cemetery in Bridgetown, NS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Saunders’ Rest Home in Bridgetown, NS.
