Obituary of Albert Laurence Dalrymple
The family of Al Dalrymple sadly announces his sudden passing on Thursday, December 7th. He is survived by his two children, Robert (Jenny) Dalrymple of Whitby, ON, and Tracey (Dave) Penney of Dartmouth, NS. His sisters Linda ( Gerry) Williams and Margret ( Jim ) Carter, and three grandchildren, Emily and Evan Penney, and Robert (Bobby) Dalrymple. He is predeceased by his father Russell Dalrymple and mother Gertrude (Babe) (Wilson) Dalrymple. Al was a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force in his younger days and then became a long-term employee of Texaco, later Ultramar while residing in Dartmouth, NS. After retirement, he then found his new home in Bridgetown, NS where he would meet his wonderful neighbours, Heather, and Charlie, who would become family to him. Al liked to remain busy and had a vast number of hobbies over the years. He enjoyed tinkering with engines of all types. He excelled at Pool where he was able to win various championships. He liked to paint, mostly air brush painting, on canvas, on toy chests, that he made for his grandchildren, and even an air brushed dragon on the side of an Oldsmobile Herse that he converted into an ‘El Comino’ style auto, the Dragon Wagon. In Al’s younger days he was a member of the Bluenose Vanners, and would travel around Nova Scotia, in customized vans that he owned over the years, where he could relax with friends. His favourite past time was going to a Blue Jays game, with his son and grandson, or sitting out on a summers night with Heather and Charlie watching the Blue Jays games in their shared back yard. As anyone that knew Al can attest, he was one of the Blue Jays biggest fans. Al was an animal lover and owned many pets over the years with two of his favourite pets being two cats that he rescued as kittens, brothers Abraham and Lincoln. A wake will be held 3pm Wednesday Decemeber 13, 2023 in the Bridgetown Legion, Branch 33. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at https://cancer.ca .
