As a former member of the Greyhounds, I have fond memories of chatting with Gerry in between legs of the Cabot Trail Relay. He was definitely a " one off" and will be sorely missed.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Sincere condolences Sally and family. So sorry for your loss. I well remember how helpful Gerry was when I moved to my current home. Things he did inside are still evident.
Wishing you all comfort through this time.

To Sally, Justin, Amy, Jesse and all of Gerry's loved ones, my heartfelt condolences. Gerry and I first met at the old Children's Hospital in Halifax in 1969...wow that was some time ago! We worked together in 4 different hospitals but the fondest memories come from working side by side in Microbiology at Soldiers. Every day we managed to add some pleasant banter to our workplace. My respect for Gerry grew daily both in his work ethics and in his ability to make such close friends with those around him. I know he will be so very missed by family and friends alike.

To Sally,Justin ,Amy,and Jesse and families
We were very sad to hear of Gerry’s passing.
He will always be remembered as a kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humour. He was very easy to work with and a very competent Lab Manager.
He loved his family dearly.
Ken and I will always remember the times we went camping with your family. It was always a good time even though it usually poured rain. We always had fun and we will treasure these memories forever.
Sending love and hugs to you and all the family at this difficult time

Dear Sally and family, We are so sorry about Gerry. He so loved you all. We will remember him for his deep love for his family, (including the cats, of course,) his love of gardening, reading, crafts, for his extensive handyman talents, and for his dry wit. Please accept our sincere condolences. Kathy Flinn and Glenn Bartkiewicz

I send my love and condolences to my dear friend Sally, to Justin, Amy and Jesse, to Samuel, Elijah, Molly and Ewen. We have been neighbours for twelve years and friends almost instantly after meeting Sally’s chickens. If Gerry wasn’t home in the garden he was either running or off with the grandkids. I met him first at Valley View on a cold snowy day sledding with Samual and Elijah, an impressive grandpa. My special memory was when I first began knitting under Sally’s tutorage, well I messed up something on the hat and I ran over for help. Sally was not home but Gerry took my mess, and oh it was a mess and fixed my error and told me I was doing a good job. His compliment was generous, the hat was a disaster. But I will love him for that, for his endless kindness to others.

Gerry hired me in 1988 to work in the lab office at SMH where I remained until my recent retirement. This time of year brings to mind a memory of Gerry generously offering us girls in the office a day off to prep for Christmas, where he would fill in for us as well as keeping up with his work as manager. I recall many 'food fest' Fridays when Gerry liked to carb up for an upcoming run on the weekend. He was sorely missed after his departure from the lab. I know he will be desperately missed by his family. Sincere condolences to Sally and Family. Nancy Armstrong

Although I never actually heard him breathe as we ran side-by-side, Gerry was a wonderful training partner on our early Saturday morning runs in the 1990s in the Middleton area. Year round. On one particularly bitter January morning with the wind steady at 30 kmph and the temperature hovering at. minus 10 C, Tom, Gerry and I ran up the Spa Springs Road to the Multi-Addiction Centre Community Hall breakfast in North Kingston. It was here that he coined the phrase: "It's a three-sock day out there, boys!" Funny man. Those of us in the Hurtin' Buckos Running Club enjoyed his wit and wisdom and deeply respected the breadth of his encyclopedic knowledge. Life on the (abandoned rail) road was filled with fun too, although Tom, Matt, Ron and I struggled mightily at times to counter his claim that the scenery was "B o r i n g," ... or was that the company?!
Joan and I extend our condolences to Sally, Amy, Justin, Jesse and family. We know that as fond as our memories of Gerry are, your's are far deeper and broader after a lifetime shared together. We hope that these memories and the support of friends will sustain you as you move forward. Gerry's love and spirit will always be there to anchor you through difficult times ahead and to brighten your happiness when you imagine him sharing new challenges and successes.
Blessings, Roger and Joan Boutilier
