Gerry &Val were very good friends during our Bridgetown tenure. We meet them at the "West End Christmas Party", which occurred shortly after we moved into our house. Gerry & I developed a very close relationship which existed on the golf course, at the curling rink, during Koffee Klub sessions, and preparing the Ciderfest Parade . . I was his so-called assistant. For several years Gerry & Val & Bonnie and I would frequently drive to Middleton (altering day's driving) on a Friday night and "dine" at the Chinese Restaurant . . a great place. They were cottage people (in Ontario), and we were cottage people (also in Ontario). Having purchased cottage on Rumsey Lake on the North Mountain above Bridgetown Gerry & Val would frequently visit us & sit on our deck & enjoy a drink or two. An anecdote: Late in August, while at our Ontario cottage, the chap cutting our Bridgetown grass phoned to say my lawn tractor had "died". When we came home in early September, just before Ciderfest, I attended a session of the Koffee Klub. There, Gerry was selling tickets ($20 each) for a new tractor . . a Ciderfest fund raiser. He convinced me to buy one. I did. I won the draw, and am still using that lawn tractor. Thanks Gerry. Friend.

The Congregation of William Black Pastoral Charge send our condolences to the family and friends of Gerry Lutley. It was with the support of Gerry we were offered the use of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church sanctuary for our Sunday worship space. A wonderful man much loved by family, friends and community.

My knowledge about Gerry is fairly recent in that I got to know him when the United Church in Bridgetown was looking for a home, and found it at St. Alphonsus Church. When the two congregations began to worship in the same building, St. Alphonsus had its Mass at 9 am with William Black United occupying the premises at 11 am. In between these two services, congregants from both churches would meet for coffee and conversation downstairs. Thus was true ecumenism born in Bridgetown, continuing to the present day. Gerry and Val were the ones I remember best as exhibiting this wonderful spirit. May this spirit continue. I wish Val and her daughters well at this time of such a tremendous loss in their lives.

Keith and I were so sorry to read of your loss. I still miss having supper and listening to the music in the End of the Line. The food, the company and the music were wonderful. It was nice to chat with a welcoming female friend here in town.
For a short time the breakfasts in the Pub were fun as well, as long as Jerry's coffee was scalding and the bacon was crunchy!
He will be sorely missed

We met Gerry & Val shortly after moving to Bridgetown in 2000. It was an honour & a joy to be with Gerry during many of his Bridgetown activities; golf, curling, ciderfest parade organizing, Koffee Klub activities, etc. In fact, Gerry sold me the winning ticket for a Ciderfest fund raiser . . a draw for a lawn tractor . . mine had died a few weeks earlier. He helped me shingle our garage, not an easy task for either of us at the time. They frequently dropped into our cottage. It was a reminder of their cottage in Ontario. Gerry was a significant contributor to the Bridgetown community during his time here. All of us will truly miss you, Gerry.

I was fortunate to be hired in 1965 by the RCMP and Gerry interviewed my for the Moncton position but was not approved and I accepted a position in Montreal. In 1968, I moved back to Moncton and took Gerry old position. In 1972, I took the senior teck position in Red Deer and in 1973, was accepted in the Telecom Engineering position working for Gerry. Had many great years working with and for Gerry. We had many projects working together. He was a great teacher and will be missed. Love to Valerie and family.

My husband, Jeff, and I send sincere condolences to Valerie and family. As Gerry's secretary for many years in Telecomns Engineering Branch, RCMP, it was a great place to work, he was a terrific boss, and he was ever patient with my foibles. I have great memories of my time there. Jeff and I also thank Valerie again for the lovely knitted outfits she made for our babies.
Our sincere condolences.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family. Gerry was obviously very accomplished in his career with the RCMP especially attaining a high rank as a civilian member. We have all benefitted enormously from his work, and it sounds like he was a giving and gentle soul outside of work.
sincerely,

Condolences to the Lutley family from the Koffee Klub, Gerry was a fun person at meetings, his dry humor and the ability to solve all domestic problems, he always relished winning the flip for the quarter’s and showed his joy in the fact but the big frown on his face when he didn’t win was priceless! RIP Mr. Lutley.
