Obituary of Lewis Irvin Sarty

Please share a memory of Lewis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sarty, Lewis Irvin, 78, of Parkers Cove, Annapolis County, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side on December 31, 2023.  Born in Parkers Cove, he was the son of the late Clifford and Myrtle (Guest) Sarty.

Known by family and friends as Buster, Lewis worked most of his life as a scallop fisherman. In his earlier years he owned and operated dump trucks; however, the sea always called him back to fishing as this was his true passion.  In his retirement years he enjoyed keeping his property looking immaculate, puttering around his woodworking shop, and doing small jobs for and spending time with his family and friends.

Lewis is survived by his children, Shelley (Vaughn) Longmire of Ardoise, Christopher (Angela) Sarty of Hillsburn, and Cynthia (Robert) Pettipas of Deep Brook; grandchildren, Devan (Lisa) Longmire, Keshia (Jacob) Hawkins, Alyssa (Joel) Thibault and Dylan (Calista) Pettipas; great grandchildren, Allison and Lauren Hawkins and Jace Thibault; brother, Gerald Sarty and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Neva Mae (Hudson) Sarty; siblings, Alberta, Reginald, Raymond, Lillian, Eileen and Wayne.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 7-9pm with the memorial service on Sunday at 2pm, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Paster Jeff George officiating.  A private family interment at Hillside Cemetery immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers donations in Lewis’s memory may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.  Online condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
