Obituary of Paul James Thibodeau

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Paul James Thibodeau

June 16, 1955 - January 16, 2024.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul, 68, of Plympton. He passed away in the early morning hours of January 16, 2024 in a fatal house fire with his two furry companions (Rusty & Winnie) by his side. He was the son of Ernest (Pim) and Marie Thibodeau of Plympton.

Paul was born in Plympton, Digby County, Nova Scotia. He attended High School at Digby Regional High where he met his High School Sweetheart, Susan. They married in 1977 and spent the next 43 years together until her passing in August of 2020.

Paul started out his career in automobile mechanics before moving into the world of road construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked for Aberdeen Construction before spending 30+ years with Dexter Construction.

Paul loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-Wheeler rides with his friends, and spending time at the camp. Paul was also known to pass the time playing cards with friends.

Paul is survived by his daughter Leahanne (Marc), Digby; son Christopher (Amanda), Marshalltown; Granddaughter Sparkle; Mother Marie, Plympton; Brother Vincent (Verna), Alberta; Brother Ricki, Plympton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the multiple Volunteer Fire Stations, police officers, and clergy who came to their aid on one of the hardest days of their lives.

Cremation has been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.

A visitation will be held 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Friday February 16, from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.

As per Susan and Paul’s wishes a joint celebration of their lives will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Digby at 11am. Reception in the Church hall to immediately follow. There will be a Private Family Burial.

Donations in Paul’s name can be made to the Plympton Gilbert’s Cove Fire Department.
