Obituary of Joan Marilyn Orde
Orde, Joan Marilyn (Scott) – 84 of Granville Ferry, passed away February 27, 2024 in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, with her husband, Eric by her side.
Born on July 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Legere) Scott.
Joan grew up in West Caledonia, and worked her first job at the old Kedge Lodge. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Eric Orde, and a few years later they moved to Annapolis Royal before buying their home in Granville Ferry, where they have resided ever since.
Her working career continued, she was the bookkeeper for Orde’s Esso for many years, she cooked in take outs and nursing homes, before starting up her own shop where the Esso station once was, selling printed t-shirts and hats, which she really enjoyed doing.
Joan’s love for traveling began with a trip to the Barbados, and then followed with winters in Florida. She loved to bake and cook, and was one of the best cooks in the Valley. She also loved spending her time at the cottage on Sandy Bottom and Grand Lake. Friday afternoons were spent in one place or another, with the Red Hatter girls, to which she was a member of for many years.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Eric; sons, Stephen (Holly), Parkers Cove and Craig, Australia; grandchildren, Josh (Sam), Evan and Sienna. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Gregory.
