Obituary of Dean Oscar Ring
It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Oscar Ring announce that this humble and kind man left us on May 3, 2024 at the age of 88.
Dean was born in Waldeck, son of the late Lillian and William Ring. He was married to the love of his life Margie for 61 years till her passing in 2015. Dean is survived by his daughter Kim (Shane) Ring-Wright of Centerville, son, Kevin (Tammy) Ring of South Farmington; grand-daughters, Kelly (James) Cormier of Fredericton NB; Dr Justine Ring of Winnipeg; predeceased by grandson Bryan Thompson. Dean was fortunate enough to watch his 3 great-grandchildren grow into adults, Faith, Lexie and Seth. He was so proud of his family and loved them deeply.
Dean grew up on a working farm with his sisters and brother, Irene, Freda, Marie and Bill. Their father at an early age passed away and left him and his siblings helping their mother get through the rough times. Dean worked hard all his life, from helping do electrical wiring at the age of 16. He worked 25 years as a mechanic at Rawding’s Garage in Clementsport. After that 25 years he decided to help and run the Annapolis Royal Golf Course which included adding 9 holes to make the course a 18 hole golf course. Oh the hours and hard work that took. When he was done at the golf course he worked at the Quarry in Granville till he had a bad accident and broke his back.
Everyone who knew Dean, knew he was clearly an outdoors kind of guy. He loved golf, curling, hunting and his favourite was fishing. Dean’s happy place was his cabin at Pretty Mary Lake, gosh he loved it out there and his camp family. His joy was watching the sunrise and sunset with a fishing rod in his hands. Dean would say “why would anyone ever want to be anywhere else but here at Pretty Mary Lake.”
Dean had so many trophies and so many fun stories of his winning in golf and curling. He could remember a curling game and what shot he made just like it was yesterday. Oh the fun he had with such great people in his circle. Dean had so so many special people in his life, too many to mention but you all know who you are. Each one of you played such a role in his long happy life. He was so blessed. Thestories and his humour will be so missed, he sure could make you laugh and smile.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Ken Buchholz and the nursing staff of the Wolfe Wing in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for their special kindness and care.
