Saddened to recently learn of passing of Nora. I met her through a shared interest in the local history of Clements and Old St. Edward's Church. We both volunteered on the first Board of the Clements Historical Society. When she started a project she could be very determined to see it completed. Sincere sympathies and condolences.

My sincere condolences to Judith and family.
I knew Nora through Enviro Clare, and the fight to Stop the Quarry.
My daughter and I also met with her in Quebec City during the protest against the Free Trade Area of the Americas.
Nora was a true elder, offering wisdom, care, compassion, kindness, and hospitality to both my daughter and me; she was an impressive influence in our lives.
Again, my condolences to her family and friends, and I will always remember Nora's smile , the sparkle in her eyes, and the profound influence she made in my life.
Sincerely,
Sue Deline

Nora was an absolute stalwart, gracious yet fierce, in her community's battle to stop a massive basalt quarry on Digby Neck, 20 years ago. This frame from footage gathered by Simone Sleeth for the film "The Last Weir" shows something of her vision and her deep resolve.

I am deeply saddened by the death of my oldest sister Nora. I remember her with great affection when I was a small boy in Oswaldtwistle in the fifties, when I was a teenager on holiday at her home in Abergavenny in the sixties, and in recent years when she visited the UK from her home in Canada, enjoying once again together the beautiful Lake District in NW England. With her husband Fred, we sang round the piano (played by Nora) on many occasions; I will never forget the pleasure and inspiration of those joyful musical evenings during my early years. Heartfelt thanks, dear Nora.

Nora was the eldest of five children and the four younger members always regarded her as the "matriarch" of the family I think!! She has always been there and so her death leaves a big gap and it feels a little like the end of an era. She was always strong-minded, had equally strong opinions about all kinds of issues...the emphasis changing as world problems and local issues arose. At times she expressed frustration at the slow pace of change in the problems she tried to change through her involvement by various means. During our early years as a family her gifts as a musician, especially as a pianist, will always be remembered with great pleasure. With countless memories, Joy.

Judith and family, our deepest condolences to you all.
We knew Nora well as a real driving force with the establishment of the Clements Historical Society. The two of you contributed so much to the success of the society with the files of the local historic houses, care of the neglected small roadside cemeteries, production of the annual historical calendars ,and the so much more historical information, including the compilation of the " 24 Points of Historical Interest in Clements Township Annapolis County Nova Scotia".
She always wore a smile as she busied herself on her walks, or busy raking the gravel parking area at the Monument at the Moose River . She will be missed.

Nora was a wonderful woman and it is hard to believe that I won't see her again on my walks around the French Basin Trail in Annapolis Royal. She always had a smile and a pithy comment on the beauty of the birds, turtles and other animals and all of the rest of the natural world there whether the weather was sunny, rainy or windy. She enjoyed it all. The last time I saw her there (only a very short time ago), she looked the same as ever, delighting in her surroundings. I also admired her courageous stand on issues dear to her heart. I'll miss her. Heartfelt condolences to all her family.
