Obituary of Alan Rodney Trimper (May 21, 1953 - May 21, 2024)
Alan Rodney Trimper, a mostly quiet and unassuming man, passed away May 21, 2024 - on his 71st birthday. His impact on those around him went well beyond those simple adjectives.
Alan was much loved in his roles as husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Over the years, he enjoyed being a pilot, a golfer, a fisherman, a backwoods explorer, an athlete, a woodworker, and a traveller. He was a loyal friend, and an all 'round great guy.
In his 50 years of accounting practice, he could be relied on for his integrity, compassion, and professionalism. In the presence of that mutual respect and trustworthiness, he often found himself in the privileged position of personal confidant, therapist, advisor, coach. He proudly assumed each of these interactions with care and respect, and many clients became life-long friends.
As a husband, Alan was loving, kind, and patient. His love and affection always so apparent. He loved to sing, often breaking out into serenade. He had recently become very good at baking bread, and always enjoyed slow Sunday mornings doing the New York Times crossword in bed. He loved spending time at Baillie Lake with Aileen and Viva (their vibrant little pup, whom he adored), especially sitting on the dock, taking in all the beauty that the cabin had to offer. He loved travelling and would take any opportunity to chase warmer climates. The love Alan offered was beautiful and unconditional. He truly was a good man.
Friends and family were fortunate- Alan was fun-loving and adventurous; a joy to be around. He was quick to joke, and he enjoyed the wit and humour of others. As a father, he was present and supportive, fond of traditions and family gatherings. His presence will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him.
Alan is survived by wife, Aileen Alexander; her son Nile Harding (Tabitha); his former wife, Wendy Trimper; their daughters Beth Strange (James), and Charlotte Trimper. Brother Greg and sister Marilyn Krajc; several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren: Jacob, Flynn, and Molly Allen (Charlotte); Sullivan and Harrison Strange (Beth and James); Hunter, Lachlan, and Lucie Harding (Nile and Tabitha). He was predeceased by parents Everett and Leona Trimper.
Alan passed away in hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, in the arms of his wife. He had taken a leap of faith after a brief and intense battle with cancer; he was on his way to fight for his life.
What a beautiful thing, to have a life so worth fighting for that you can find comfort and peace in taking big risks. Alan had exactly that, a life surrounded by so many loved ones and with so much to look forward to that he only saw one way forward. He chose to be brave, hung on to hope, and fought until his last breath for more time with the ones he loved here on Earth.

Friends and loved ones will be encouraged to share memories and anecdotes during the conclusion of the service. The family invites you to honour Alan by wearing a favourite shirt reflecting his passions of golf, aviation, or the great outdoors. He would love that.
Visitation of ashes will be June 10th, 5 - 7pm, at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Family asks that condolences and fond memories be left on the Kaulbach website.
