Hamilton, Wayne Ralph 71 of Berwick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne in the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born December 21, 1952 in Annapolis Royal, Wayne is the son of the late Gordon and Verna (Stromecki) Hamilton.  He started his working career at Bank of Nova Scotia in Digby at the age of 19.  After his banking days, Wayne followed in the “over the mountain” footsteps of scallop dragging.  Many days he could be seen with an arm over shoulder crammed in the cab of a truck of fisherman, frequently with the twins Paul and Morris, heading out to the great big sea.  Throughout the years he has had various jobs, ending his working career as an event coordinator for Southwest Shore Development Authority.  Wayne’s passion in life was his volunteering. He volunteered with the Yarmouth Mariners Hockey, Western County Exhibition, Yarmouth Minor Hockey, Yarmouth Ribfest and Stock Car Racing.  Throughout his volunteering he met several people and formed lifelong friendships.  Wayne was also an active and then veteran member of the Annapolis Royal Fire Department, in which he found great pride.  Wayne often spent his free time reconnecting for a coffee or a card game with fellow veteran firefighters.  You could also find Wayne sitting on a wharf or the shoreline, fishing away.  If you knew Wayne, you would know that he would be heard humming a tune while he caught the biggest fish ever (yet again)!

Wayne was always a positive man, and he greeted everyone with a smile, hug or handshake.  He lived his life as a glass half full kind of guy and we hope that all who knew Wayne will carry this memory with them.

Wayne is survived by his wife Tanya, daughters Cindy(Garnet) Mount Uniacke, Crystal(Gary) Bedford, son Nathan(Ani) Halifax, Claire (their Mother), Grandchildren Kirsten(Chris), Kendra(Chad), Emily, Madison, Blair(their Father) and Mikalya, Great Grandsons Jax, Cole, Luca and Caden and first Great Granddaughter to be born in February, Brother Calvin(Gayle), Sister in Law Brenda.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Brothers Terry and Randolph.

We would like to thank our families and friends for their continued love and support.  To the doctors and nurses at the ICU Department at Valley Regional Hospital, we cannot thank you enough for the care and support you provided for Wayne and his family.  It was greatly appreciated and will always be remembered.

A service will be held at Kaulbach Funeral Home in Annapolis Royal on Friday November 22 at 1 pm with Herb Anderson officiating.  Reception to follow at the Annapolis Royal Fire Department. We welcome everyone to come share a memory with his family and friends.

Donations in Wayne’s memory can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital and the Fidelis House.  Online condolences may be made www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
