Haikings, Margaret 'Maggie' Ethel (Longley), 83, of Annapolis Royal passed away peacefully on November 15, 2012 in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Reginald W. and Mildred (Walker) Longley. She attended school in Bridgetown and graduated from the Mack Business College, Kentville. She was then employed by the Federal Department of Agriculture in Annapolis Royal and Kentville, and later returned to teach at Mack Business College with her aunt, Mrs. Nellie Foster. After her marriage to John in 1957, she lived in Halifax and Dartmouth where she worked with George Schurman Real Estate and later taught business at Dartmouth Vocational School. Since retiring to Annapolis Royal in 1993 she travelled extensively with her husband. She enjoyed their beautiful country property and loved watching the wildlife that passed by. She was foremost the family homemaker and enjoyed cooking. Maggie fought a courageous six year battle against esophageal cancer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John; sons, Michael (Lynn Huntley) of Halifax, Dave (Susan) of Halifax; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Abby; brother, Raymond (Donna) Longley of Bridgetown, many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brother, Norman Longley and sister, Janie Dobson. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday November 19th, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 190 St. Anthony Street, Annapolis Royal. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, from the St. George and St. Andrew United Church, Annapolis Royal, with Reverend Gordon Delaney officiating. Reception to follow in church hall. Burial to follow reception in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
