Obituary of Helen Brooks

Brooks, Helen Lee - 94, Bridgetown, passed away January 17, 2013. Born in Bridgetown, she was the daughter of the late Blanche (Barr) and James F. Goldsmith. After high school she attended the Provincial Normal College, Truro and later acquired her B.A. and B.Ed from Acadia. She taught in several rural schools prior to marriage. She taught in Bridgetown High School for 24 years. She was a long time member of the Bridgetown Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, served on the youth board, a leader of the Explorers and was assistant clerk for twenty- five years. For several years, she was on the Board of Directors of the Children's Aid Society, and was a long time member of the Baptist Ladies Auxiliary and Senior Lawn Bowling Club. She is survived by son, Richard James (Anita) and grand daughters, Aimee and Natalie. She was predeceased by husband, Russell; brother, Ronald; and several half-sisters and half-brothers. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service. There is no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from the Bridgetown Baptist Church with Rev. David Cumby officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown.
