Sabean, Allan Campbell - 96, Port Royal, Annapolis County, passed away May 29, 2013, in Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Granville Beach, he was a son of the late Roy and Nettie (Campbell) Sabean. He worked odd jobs at a young age until he joined the Army in 1940. Allan was a member of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, going over seas for five years, first in England, and later to Holland and Germany. His tank was the first off the ship that landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Returning home to Port Royal from war he met and married Frances (Hubley) in 1946. Then he worked at Tom Fortier's Mill and for 28 years at C.F.B. Cornwallis until his retirement. Upon his retirement he was a commissionaire for several years at Port Royal. Allan was an avid woodsman, enjoyed spending time on his wood lot, lobster fishing with his friend Boyd. He was also very musical and played many instruments. He was a life member of Annapolis Royal Legion, Branch 21. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Hubley); children, Beverly (Ian) Mailman, Moschelle, Paulette Hutchinson, Moschelle, Joey (Donna) Sabean, Port Royal, Nanette Pelletier, Kingston, Andrew (Janice) Sabean, Granville Ferry; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Walter and Charles; sisters, Mildred and Frances. Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm followed by a Legion service beginning at 3:30 pm. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 1st, 2013, all from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Donald Neish officiating, assisted by Rev. Elizabeth Waugh. Following the service cremation will take place. A private family burial will be at a later date in Christ Church Cemetery, Karsdale. No flowers by request.
