ERNST, Arthur Harold - 89, of Bridgetown, passed away June 12, 2013 in Soldier's Memorial Hospital. Born January 15, 1924 in Bloomington, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Percy and Eva (Robar) Ernst. Harold worked many years on the dairy farm of J. E. and Wilfred Lawrence in Clarence before purchasing his own farm. He was also employed at Acadian Distillers in Bridgetown. Harold was a member of the West Nova Scotia Regiment and a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 33 in Bridgetown. He was the "scratch man" on the Lower Clarence Tug of War Team. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, bluegrass & country music, and camping with Betty. He is survived by sons, Russell (Brenda) Ernst, Carleton Corner and John (Cheryl) Ernst, Centreville, and daughter, JoAnn Ernst Franklin, South Williamston; grandchildren, Jennifer and Amanda Ernst, Centreville, Tammy (Derrick) Ernst-White, St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Christine Josey, South Williamston; great-grandchildren, Matthew White and Hannah and Alexander Josey. He is also survived by sister, Eileen Sabine, Melvern Square. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, the former Elizabeth (Betty) Pottier; a son, Richard in infancy, brothers, Harry Ernst, Howard Ernst, Russell (Lloyd) Ernst and Arnold Robar; sisters Hilda Muise, Evelyne Burns, Flora Corbin, and Eveline Robar. Cremation and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 16th from 7-9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 17th at 11 a.m. from the William Black United Church in Bridgetown, Rev. Janis Campbell officiating. Interment of both Harold and Betty's ashes will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
