Obituary of Winford Bent

Bent, Winford Arnold - Bridgetown, Annapolis County, passed away January 25, 2014, in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Upper Granville, he was a son of the late Stanley and Frances (Durling) Bent. After graduating from Bridgetown High School, he joined the Canadian Army February 12, 1962 - March 23, 1965. With a real love of the valley he returned home and joined Maritime Tel & Tel, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Bridgetown Lions Club and was a recipient of many awards during his years of service. From April to October you could find him in his vegetable garden, down on his knees, digging weeds, tending his blueberries, trees, and planting new strawberry plants. During this past November, Win planted 100 red tulips, so when you drive by in April, you will remember that they were planted for us to remember him by. Win is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lois (Roney) Bent; son, Derek (Joanne), Berwick; daughter, Shelley (David) Joudrey, Lawrenctown; Pampy's beautiful grandchildren, Camryn and Aiden Bent; and was Gramps to Hudson Joudrey; and his only brother, Brian (Judy), Young's Cove. Coming from a large Durling family with his mother having 16 brothers and sisters this made for many, many cousins. Win and Lois hosted numerous "cousins' parties" and family reunions. A celebration of Win's life will be held 11:00 am Thursday. January 30, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown, with Rev. Gordon Delaney officiating. Private burial in Wadeville Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Bridgetown Lions Hall. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be sent to Bridgetown Lions Club or charity of choice.
