Thibault, Joseph 'Louis' - 72, Ashmore, passed away May 31, 2014 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Ashmore, November 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Louis and Alda (Manzer) Thibault. As a Logistics Officer for The Canadian Coast Guard for 35 years, his career involved serving on all of Canada's early ice breaking ships. These ships delivered supplies to isolated villages in the Canadian Artic as well as breaking ice for other vessels. A highlight of his career was circumnavigating North America via The Canadian Artic & Panama Canal. During his career he received awards for exemplary service from the Governor General of Canada. Louis is survived by his wife, of nearly 49 years, Olive (Lewis) Thibault; children, Tammie (Mark) Belliveau, Louis (Georgette) Thibault and Christopher Thibault; grandchildren, Alyssa, Skye and William; sisters, Barbara (Ken) Horton of Mount Uniake, and Carole (Tom) Wright of Florida; his four wheeling buddies, John, Earl, Murray, George and Owen. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal. There is no visitation by request. A private family interment will be held in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery, Weymouth North. Donations in Louis's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
