Obituary of Charles Rhodes

Rhodes, Charles Henry LeRoy, 82 of Lequille, Anna. Co. passed away November 29, 2010 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late Charles T. and Vera Mae (Hamblin) Rhodes. Charles was in the navy for 26 years and later worked as Warehouse Manager for Westinghouse for 12 years. He enjoyed track and field especially javelin. He was heavily involved in junior athletics; hockey, baseball, boxing and fencing. In later years he enjoyed golf. He was a Conductor for the Chester Glee Club and was a member of the Chester Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Charles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his wife Bette, son: Richard (Karen) of River Hebert; daughter Wendy (Frederick) Hudson of Hantsport; stepson: Jeffrey (Jane) Croft of Amherst; brother George (Doreen) of Ottawa; sister Midge (Bob) Filleul of B.C.; grandchildren: Cheryl Wurster, Joey Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes, Kellie Lambert, Shannon Hudson, Ryan Hudson and Shaun Hudson; 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Iola Shaffner. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown where visitation will be held Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Cremation will follow. Donations in memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
