Hi Paulette, John, Paul, Lee & Families,
Please accept our condolences on your father’s passing. We have many fond memories of Uncle Charlie working hard "down on the farm". He was such a strong, kind man, tireless worker & it was special when he gave you (although really rare) that smile with that special glint in his eye - he reminded me a lot of our Dad.
The last time I saw your Dad was at the farm in 2003 when John & I visited with Krista & Tyler to show them why it was a special place for their Grampa & us. With various Hortons hauling hay we introduced the kids to your Dad who quipped they don't let me do much anymore & gave us that rare smile!
One of my fondest memories is going to Port Williams with Dad to the Ox Pull where Uncle Charlie was competing with his beloved oxen. I have an old faded picture of him in competition, another of Johnny, Kevin & Dwayne watching & lastly one with Lee, Kevin, The Great Rootbear and me! It was a fun day.
Sincerely,
Karen & family

Hi Paulette, Just heard of your Dad's passing and my thoughts are with you and David. It is so hard losing your Mom and Dad, as we only have one of each. I can remember when we used to wrap meat with him. He had such a dry wit and a mischievous grin. He was a Bridgetown icon! You have so many great memories of him to help you through this difficult time. You two had a very special Father and Daughter relationship.I know you will miss him dearly.
Love, Sandra

My first job out of school was at the Bridgetown Co operative. I knew Charlie because we were part of the same community but it wasn't until I started to work with Charlie that I
really got to know. Charlie was a character and we enjoyed many, many laughs but he always was a true gentleman and it was an honour to know him. My sympathies to you all. Linda McNeil Waterhouse

My sincere condolences and prayers, to the Horton families.
Charlie was admired and loved by all. He was kind / devoted / wise / and forthright. He touched the hearts of everyone he met. He had many interests!
In a world where most people put their own rights in the forefront; Charlie thought only of his responsibility and duty to others. He was a tireless worker, lenient with others, ruthless with himself. He had high moral standards. He was always grateful for what you did for him.
Charlie, God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come unto Me!"
Revelation 14: 13: And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Rest in peace, Charlie.
