We were so sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. Whether it was playing bridge, quartet practices or family events, Fred and Joan were frequent visitors to our house and vice versa. Growing up, whenever I saw Fred, his first words were invariably, “So, Dave, do you have a joke for me?”. If I knew I was going to be seeing Fred, I’d make sure to be prepared with a stockpile of jokes, funny stories and barbs – the cornier the better. I always appreciated the fact that he spoke to me like an adult and genuinely listened to what I had to say.
Fred was larger than life. He was a commanding presence in any room, church or classroom. People were naturally drawn to him and, when around others, he was always quick with a kind word or a quick-witted remark. He will be missed.

To Mr. Hall's (he was never Fred to me) family I offer heart-felt regret for your loss. I knew him as a teacher at BRHS and he was ever a gentle person who even so could ensure that learning would take place in his classes regardless of the contrary desires of early teenagers. Many of us were just too young to appreciate that we should have aspired to growing up more like him.

Fred is etched in my memory, sitting in the rocker in Annie's kitchen, dressed in shorts, chewing gum. When dinner was served, Fred parked the gum on the frame of his glasses. I never saw anyone else do that. He was ever kind to me, a great source of local lore, not a slave to fashion, a true son of Annapolis. He had an enviable life and will be greatly missed.

I just heard the news of Fred's passing; although to me his is respectfully, Mr. Hall. Immediately, long held images come to mind. A wonderful singing voice, a happy person with a warm heart. Mr. Hall was a teacher, a role model and well, honestly, one of those other Halls in town! I think of my growing up in Bridgetown and immediately see his face, I see him walking in the hall at school and, of course, singing in church. One or two old variety shows might also spring forward in my memories...
The world has lost a great one, Mr. Hall. Rest easy, sing joyfully from above.

So sad to hear of this loss. As with many of us who lived in the are, he was my grade five teacher but even though I moved away I kept in touch a little. As a Baptist and a teacher I ran into him several times over the years, if I was near Bridgetown on a Sunday I would make sure to go to Church because I knew I'd see him. His 'spirit' in the classroom is one I've used as a role model as a teacher. My first memories of his class are 1. His humour and positive attitude, 2. his love of Miss Piggy and sick he must of gotten of getting Miss Piggy theme gifts from the kids but always acted like it was the best thing ever and 3. A Science experiment with the vacuum in a tin. :) my thoughts are with the family.

My caring thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
Fred, (Freddie) as I knew him, enjoyed trout fishing together
in the Gaskell Hollow Brook, when he would visit his Aunt Annie
and Uncle Vernon, in Hampton, during the school summer holidays.
That was approximately 65 years ago!
Fred was admired and loved by all.
He was kind/devoted/wise/and forthright.
He touched the hearts of everyone he met.
Again, we have lost a most kindhearted, strong,
determined, funny, creative, generous, knowledgeable,
and loving friend in Fred.
And now,
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
