Davis, M. Olive- It is with great sadness that the family of Olive Davis of Digby, wife of the late William "Bill" Davis, announce her death on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011, at the Digby General Hospital. Born in East Pubnico, on April 16th, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louisa (Nickerson) Blades. In her younger years, Olive enjoyed quilting and knitting. Often, her beautiful knitted creations of enfant bonnets and sweaters were donated to the IWK. She loved reading and always had a keen mind for politics, the Royal family and crosswords. Olive took great pride in her family's accomplishments and received great amusement when spending time with her great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Olive was a faithful member of Digby Wesleyan Church. Olive is survived by four daughters, Patsy Frye of Stephenville, NL, Florence Vaughn (Royce) of Hantsport, Lillian (Gary Tidd) and Ruth Bremner (Brian) both of Digby; siblings, Bessie Wickett of St. Stephen, NB, Floyd Blades of Victoria Harbour, ON and Arlene Featherstone of Paradise; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; special nephew, Douglas Blades (Vivian) of Truro; several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Rena Sugamoto, Ethel Crowell, Edith Brewer and Gladys Nickerson; as well as, one brother, Ralph Blades. Resting at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, 190 St. Anthony Street, Annapolis Royal, (902) 532-7555, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Digby Wesleyan Church, 84 Victoria Street, Digby, on Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Andrew Maves officiating. Interment will take place in Bayview Cemetery, Bayview. Immediately following the interment, a reception will be held at the home of Ruth and Brian Bremner, 357 Lighthouse Road, Digby.
