Obituary of Audrey Marguerite Kennedy

Kennedy, Audrey Marguerite – Age 91, formerly of Beaconsfield, passed away Tuesday October 20, 2015 at Grand View Manor. Born January 1, 1924 in Beaconsfield, she was the daughter of Beatrice (Palmer) and Zephenia Bent. Audrey graduated from Bridgetown High School in 1940, when she was 16 years old. As she was too young to go to Normal College, she taught in Parkers Cove and Beaconsfield School. Then she went to Normal College in Truro in 1942, which resulted in a 35 year teaching career with the Halifax Co. School Board. She retired as the principal of Hillside Park School in Lower Sackville. She moved back to Beaconsfield in her retirement and enjoyed the time for photography, playing bridge and following her grandchildren’s activities. She is survived by her sons, John (Deborah) Kennedy, Brookfield and George (Heather) Kennedy, Greenwood; her grandchildren, Scott (Heather) Kennedy, St. Stephen, NB, Brian (Cindy) Kennedy, Dartmouth, Matthew (Samantha Kennedy) Auburn, Chris (Meghan) Kennedy, Toronto, ON; great grandchildren, Cohan, Adelaide and Myles. She was predeceased by husband, William Kennedy; sisters, Jessie and Iris; brothers, Harold and Perry. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. There will be a Celebration of Audrey’s life at a later date. Donations in memory may be sent to the Alzheimer Society of NS or a Charity of your choice.
