I send to you my heartfealt condolences.
This man was a true friend of mine and a source of spiritual strength.
He taught me how to play golf and we had many hours of good fellowship.
I look forward to meeting him when the Lord calls me home.
I had tried many times over the years to contact him and Ann, but was unable to do so. I was shocked and saddened to get this news.

To Anne, Jennifer and April Dawn- Thank you for sharing Gordon with so many of us. I shall remember him for his cheerful, upbeat disposition. He treated everyone the same. He was kind to our family (not only my two youngest brothers) but my mother and sisters. Many times he would be pick us up for church, Sunday School & other church events.Today is both a sad day and happy day, sad not only because of the passing that has occurred but happy because Gordon has reached his final destination in life and is now united with our Lord and Savior." Our world just got a little darker today". Looking forward to the blessed day when we shall meet "all our departed loved ones" where there is no more suffering. We know where he is therefore we haven't lost him. To Jennifer Park and the Lewis Family:
We were saddened to hear of the passing of your loved one. We had been praying for Mr Lewis for some time now. We encourage you to hold to the many precious memories also knowing that "we do not sorrow as those who have no hope." Gordon, loved his Lord and now his faith has given way to sight and he, along with all of us await that day when there will be no more seperation, for the former things will pass away and God will make all things new.
Another soldier has laid down his armor and has been promoted to Glory. Herein is truth - we shall see him again along with the One who made all of this possible, our Lord and Savior, Jesus!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Gordon. Ann I am so glad you had the wonderful support of your two daughters to help deal with the difficulties Gordon faced during his cancer. You provided Gordon with a tremendous gift, when you where able to keep him in his own home for such a long period. Gordon's cancer journey was not an easy one, but with your strong support and attention to detail, I know it granted him a little extra time.
Take care of yourself, may peace and comfort find you during this difficult time, May your memories give you peace and comfort as well.

My sincere condolences.
Gordon was such an amazing person, teacher and principal. It was so good to be able to visit with him and Anne and Jennifer briefly last week. He showed us pictures of the model boat he had restored and seemed so happy.
One memory of significance, to me, of Gordon was when he first showed up at the Granville elementary school. I had always loved playing soccer, but had somehow been uncomfortable asking if I could play in the lunch time games as I was the only girl. Gordon not only encouraged me to play at lunch, but he got me to join the little Granville school soccer team - first and only girl while I was there. He broke a barrier that I faced and I have always remembered that.
You are all in my prayers.

Though I did not know Gordon Lewis and his family to the degree that many members of my Parker family did; I always recognized that "Mr. Lewis" he had been blessed with gifts of understanding, insight, patience, love, fairness encouragement and teaching, and bestowed his gifts onto others. He made a big impact on my family and was a wonderful mentor to my two youngest brothers Michael & Lawrence. To read all these wonderful condolences from others ... especially past students ... shows that Gordon Lewis and his messages will live on through others who learned so much from him. His confidence in Lawrence's ability to draw and play guitar, and the Christian teachings he instilled in Michael will be sown in the hearts of others as Michael preaches God's word. It is too bad that there is not a "Mr. Lewis" for each young person to have in their lives, because he had the ability to bring out the best in anyone. We were blessed to have him for the time we did, and I know he is with our Lord, watching and continuing to learn and love. May your hearts be comforted knowing others cared so much and appreciated Gordon Lewis. God Bless you all.

It makes me sad, your passing, but happy and glad that I got to know you.
You were my childhood educator, and epitomized what it should be - to be a teacher. You truly cared about your students, helping them to learn the fundamentals, setting the foundation for their futures. Never forgetting to have fun, because, that is what I remember the most.. the lunchtime softball league, the field trips to fun land village, art class, and your sense of humour.
You were very kind and understanding ... and I know this because when I was your student, there was still the strap. Yes, I got sent to your (The Principal) office, but, only received a stern word - thank you for that. :)
Thank you as well for the chance to earn some responsibility - working on your farm, bundling summer savory.. I'll never forget the smell of the freshly harvested herb mixed with diesel from the tractor.
My condolences go out to your family, who with your passing, are left with an insurmountable void..
They say that only the good die young... I'm sure this was written for men like you, because no matter how long you've been on this earth, we will never bet ready to see you go.
Rest in peace my friend.

A great many students are remembering a wonderful teacher right now, I'm sure. 'Mr. Lewis' was always one of my favorite teachers. We had a small grade 6 class but he had us doing big things. He taught me how to draw and I still, to this day, draw the same tree, or skyline, and think of him! One assignment was to write a children's story. He was so pleased with mine that he asked Lawrence Parker to come in and illustrate it. Gordon then sent it off to numerous publishing companies trying to get it into print and apologized to me for it not working out! I'll never forget that.Talk about 'going the extra mile'! We met many, many times over the years and it was so nice that he always remembered me, as I'm sure he did most, if not all, of his students. LOL...it took many years for him to convince me that it was alright to call him Gordon and not Mr. Lewis! I hope some solace is found in knowing how many lives Gordon touched and what a positive outlook he left with us. A great man, a great teacher, ........a better role model could not be found! Thinking of him......

My condolences to you Anne, Jennifer, April and families! Gordon was a special man and will be greatly missed by many. He touched so many lives over the years..
I have pretty much known Gordon my whole life! From being my principal at Granville Ferry Consolidated Elementary school...my Economics teacher at AWEC...my first boss....I started at A&T Savoury when I was 12-13...pulling weeds in the summer savoury fields...I remember starting at like $3.75/hour..and by the end of my first day Gordon was so impressed with my weeding skills he bumped me up to $4.25...and by the end of the summer was over $5! I have always told everyone that Gordon was my favorite boss ever...he was fair...he could teach many a lesson in the field as well as in the classroom...many Annapolis area kids learned of what hard work and determination in the summer heat could provide them with their first pay checks and he even provide a nice staff bbq once in awhile to show his appreciation....I was told by many after i stopped working for Gordon that he told everyone that I was his best weeder of all time lol...
I owe a lot to Gordon ( & Anne)...Gordon taught me how to drive a tractor...let me work my way up to my first supervisor job! i can still smell the savoury and see Gordon's smile...and remember the stories he would tell...as well as his mom Ruby...Once again the world has lost a great man...but he is in a more peaceful and painless place where he can get back to work teaching and gardening in heaven...RIP Gordon...I will Never forget you!
