Gartner, Jean Elizabeth – 85, Middleton formerly of Granville Ferry. “One of the Baxter twins” passed away March 16, 2016, in Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton. Born on April 27, 1930, in Digby, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Pineo) Baxter. Jean spent her youthful years in the Annapolis area. She graduated from Baniff School of Fine Arts, and was employed in various artistic venues across the country. Later she returned to Nova Scotia and graduated from Dalhousie University in 1976. She became an art teacher in Halifax enjoying and enhancing the youthful spirits. Jean experimented with many mediums of expression but immensely enjoyed working with stained glass and needle point. She is survived by her twin sister, Mary A. Birch; son, Allan (Shelly); grandchildren, Phillip (Marie Franc), Brian, Betsy-Jean (Jean Luc), Tracey (Keith) and Chris (Pat); great grandgirls, Annabell, Rose and Elena. She was predeceased by son, Paul Alexander. Visitation will be held 2-4 pm Wednesday, March 23, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal. A graveside service will be held 2pm, Thursday, March 24, at Wadeville Cemetery, Granville Centre, with Rev. Gordon Delaney officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, for the wonderful care Jean received.
