Dear Sharon and Noah:
We have learned of the passing of Dennis - we happen to be in PEI otherwise we would have attended the funeral at the school for Dennis.
Dennis was just the best vet around; so very kind, thoughtful and compassionate and we could afford to have pets because he made it so for his many clients;
Our children, Kenneth, Carol and Elizabeth remember Dennis well - Dennis was Kenneth`s coach and always had great admiration for him.
Thinking of you both at this time Sharon, Paula

Dear Sharon, Noah, and Rachel, I'm so sad to hear about Dennis' death. As you know, I worked for Dennis way back in 1976-1979. There never has been a kinder or a gentler human being. He loved the animals and cried when he had to put one to sleep. But we had lots of laughs too. He was truly a beautiful person and I'm so sorry for your loss. Kathy Flinn

Dennis was a very influential part of my life growing up. I will always remember his laugh and sense of humor. Words can't fully express what he meant to me or all the things he did for me. The lessons I learned as a child from him have influenced my actions with my daughter. His compassion towards animals is forever with me-Pagan, McCloud, Brandy and Hitch to name a few of his wonderful animals. From buying me my first "real" pair of basketball shoes to the countless hours coaching Noah and I, those memories and you will always be with me.
Dennis you will be missed but always a part of my life.
Sharon and Noah my heart goes out to you. There really isn't a day goes by that I don't think about you all.
With love,

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Scanlan was our family vet from the middle 70's until his retirement. He was so down to earth, no high tech. Just excellent care of my pets.I loved the scarred desk out front, the welcomining cats, the wood stove and the chats one would have with other folks waiting to have their pets seen.
I am sure he touched many lives and aided many animals. I am glad to have known him.

We are so sorry for the loss of your dear husband and father. Dr. Scanlon was our family vet. We'd love to take Tigger and Shadow there for their appointments . They were never afraid just excited to see the man who loved them and cared for them as if they were his own. My husband and I enjoyed our talks with Dr. Scanlon , he never rushed us and was very patient in answering any questions we'd had. We both know that in all the places we have been posted and all the vets our furry children have been to , there is only truly one great vet, Dr Scanlon. May God welcome you to heaven with His loving arms wide open. We know Tigger and Shadow are very happy to see their old friend. God bless you, another star has lit up Heaven's sky.

I had the honour of working with Dr. Scanlan at the animal hospital for 7 years leading up until he retired. People would come from all over the province to have their animals examined by him because of his knowledge, compassion, values, honesty, and his way with the animals. He was a great boss, he was great with the animals, and it was really my favourite job. At night, I often dream that we are still working there. I just wish I had made it down to visit more often after the hospital closed. I was so sad when I heard of his passing. My deepest sympathies to Sharon and Noah.

My thoughts go out to Sharon and Noah. It's hard to express how much someone from your past can touch our hearts. Even though we may not think of them every day, they are still a monumental piece of the past and who we become. Thank you Dennis for being one of the great memories from my past. You will be missed dearly by all you have touched.

So sorry for your loss, Dr. Scanlan was a wonderful, compassionate and caring vet, my dogs to which I had 10 just loved him as did I. He always called us a dog pound on wheels because we would have to use two vehicles to go to our appointment. I always had the last appointment of the day and Dr. Scanlan always got down on the floor and played and talked to the dogs. It was a sad day when he retired and now sadder that he is no longer with us. Rest in Peace you will be dearly missed.

Dear Noah and Rachel - we were so sorry to read about your Dad's passing, Noah. As I have said to you on more than one occasion, your Dad was special. When we moved back to the Valley in 1998 we needed a Vet for our cats and were directed to your Dad. WE LOVED HIM. When the need came to say good bye to a pet, he cried along with us. He did his best to save a kitten and was devastated when the kitten didn't survived. He was one of a kind. We offer our sincere condolences. Bill and Bliss

There is so much to say about Doc Scanlon but it is so hard to write because I'm crying. We will all miss him so much, but those people and animals in heaven must be so happy to have him with them. I wish I could be there for your Celebration of Life and to share all the stories but I can't. On behalf of myself and Dave, Sassy, Patch, Knut, Rocky and Cricket we bid you farewell from Texas. I personally thank you on behalf of my dogs Trudeau and Major. Say hi to them for me when you see them and let them know I love them as much now as ever before and I'll see them someday with a whole bunch of new playmates! God Bless You Doc!
