Obituary of Geraldine Elizabeth Connell

Connell, Geraldine “Gerry” Elizabeth Age 80, of Bridgetown passed away in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, on June 18, 2016. Born in Annapolis Royal, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Amy (Mader) Amirault. Gerry loved to knit, crochet and quilt. Each grandchild received a beautiful quilt especially made for them by their grandmother. Knitted baby sets were always made for her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they were born, with many extra sets donated to local hospitals. Gerry also loved to bowl and lawn bowl and was very involved in many organizations such as the VON, Bridgetown Lawn Bowling Club, Royal Canadian Legion, and the Anglican Church Women. She volunteered at the Adult Residential Centre and was a canvasser for the NS Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Gerry is survived by her loving husband, John William “Willie” Connell; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Biggs, Grand Pre; Elaine Groom, Bedford; Eileen (Hans Pontsioen) Grant, Enfield; Evelyn (Gary) McGinis, Centreville; Elfreda (Derwin) Taylor, Berwick; son, Edison (Barb Whelan) Connell, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Amy, Adam, Jonathan, Jennifer, Emily, Evan, Shane, Keifer, Jenny, Shannon, Natasha and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Michael, Mila, Isaac, Zachary, Benjamin, Hanna, Braxton and Delaney; sisters, Norma (Wilfred) Smith, Dartmouth and Laverne (Bill) MacDonald, Alberta, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandsons, Brandon and Matthew; son in-law, John Groom; sister, Dorothy (Norman) Atwater and brothers, David, Louis (Pat), and Donald Amirault. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 24th at 2 PM from St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Family flowers only.
