Myra Ruby (Selig) Grant passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Middleton, Nova Scotia at the age of 89. She was a resident at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre. Myra is survived by daughters Judy Grant, Kathy (Roland “Rod”) Rhoddy, Paulette Wamboldt and step-son David Grant; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters Helen Colp, Betty Crouse and brother Wilbert Selig. She is predeased by her husband Ransford; parents Albert and Florence (Hubley) Selig; brothers Alvin, George, Gerald, Earl, Charlie and sister Violet. Myra was born May 31, 1927 in North Brookfield, Nova Scotia. She grew up in the Caledonia, Queens County area. As a young adult she lived in various locations, including Montreal for a short period. Early in their marriage Ransford and Myra lived on the North Mountain, near Morden where they raised their children. Then moved to Weston until they took on the adventure of moving to Kelowna, British Columbia for two years. Due to Ransford’s failing health they returned to Nova Scotia and resided in Granville Ferry until his passing. Myra was a hard worker from a strawberry box mill to eventually starting her own business a Rest Home for the elderly which was a true passion of hers. She always cared deeply about the people in her life whether they were family or friends she treated like family. Myra was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed playing bingo, loved jigsaw puzzles and would lose herself in a novel. No task was too big from upholstering furniture to renovating a kitchen. She was an avid traveler making countless trips out west to visit family. Her life was truly fulfilled while helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren.She lived her life on her own terms. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Thursday, August 4, 6-8 pm at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home in Bridgetown followed by graveside burial Friday, August 5, 2 pm at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Annapolis Royal. Rev Leon Langille will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Myra's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Lung Association. A special thank you to the staff at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre for the exceptional care and support they provided Myra and her family. The family would like to acknowledge the unwavering love and support Myra’s sister Helen has always provided. Myra always looked forward to your letters and visits. Throughout the years you have always been there for her and that never went unnoticed. Myra is now reunited with her husband and life long best friend Marjorie DeEll.
