Obituary of Thelma Mitchell

Mitchell, Thelma Maxine, 91, of Inglewood, Anna Co. passed away July 16, 2011 in Heart of the Valley Nursing Home, Middleton. Born in Fredericton she was a daughter of the late Harry D. and Rosebud ( Wright) O'Ree. Thelma was a longtime member and supporter of the Salvation Army where she worked on the Red Kettle campaign for many years and she truly loved her church. She worked at Acadian Distillery for many years. Thelma was the cook at the Bethel Bible Camp, Middleton for 32 years. She was a strong supporter of high school sports especially basketball at Bridgetown Regional High School where a trophy in her name is awarded annually. She is survived by daughters; Rose O'Ree of Chicago, Janet (John) Johnson of Detroit, Caroline Stevenson of Edmonton, AB, Wanda ( Winston) Jackson of Elmsdale; son Norval ( Pauline) of Elmsdale; sisters: Violet Walton of Halifax, Margaret of Edmonton, brothers: Lewis O'Ree of Edmonton, Willie O'Ree of San Diego, Ca; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, a daughter in infancy, sister Betty Robinson, brothers: Robert, Richard, and Alfred. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with Major Norman Hamelin officiating assisted by Pastor Stephen Wade and Pastor Theresa Character. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown followed by a reception at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Karel and Krista Lynn at Crosskill Court for the care they provided Thelma and to the residents for the friendship they showed. Thelma was sad to have to leave. A special thanks also to the staff at Heart of the Valley Nursing Home for the special care and love they provided Thelma and her family .
