Nelson (Smith) Evelyn Esther. The family of Evie Nelson age 78 of Granville Centre, Annapolis County, is saddened to announce her sudden passing on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born February 10, 1938 in Centrelea, NS Evie was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Smith, Bridgetown. Short but mighty, Evie was often referred to as a social butterfly and could be found at many community events and especially frequented the Annapolis Royal Farmers Market. An active and devoted member of her church, for years she enjoyed singing in the choir. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, Visit’s and dinners at the cabin on Wright’s Lake were always a favorite pastime. As a stanch supporter of the Liberal Party, she loved elections and all they entailed! Evie had a great memory for birthdays and loved surprising people with her birthday wishes. An avid bird watcher, her most favorite visitors to her bird feeders were “her” cardinals. Evie is survived by her husband of 59 years Thomas (Tom); sons: Tom Nelson of Kitchner, ON., Rick (Josephine Merlin) Nelson of Halifax, daughters: Tammy (Bob) MacLennan of Middle Sackville, Vicky (Randy) Wilson of Digby; sister June (Tom) Denton of Winnipeg; brothers: Harold (Judy) Smith of Aurora, Gary Smith of Weymouth; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday Dec. 10, 2016 at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday Dec. 11, 2016 from the Granville Centre United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Legassie officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Granville Centre United Baptist Church or to the Annapolis West Health Foundation. On line condolences may be sent to: www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
