Obituary of Ronald Robert Thomas
Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas, Ronald (Ron) Robert – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Ronald Thomas, age 72. He passed away surrounded by family at the Dartmouth General Hospital on December 17, 2016. Ronnie was the son of the late Ronald Albert Thomas and Lillian Brenda Thomas (Purcell) of Halifax. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Sharon Anne Thomas of 50 years; his sisters, Shawna Thomas, Ann Thomas, and Cathy Eisan (Thomas). Ron is survived by sisters, Kimberly Thomas, Margo Page, Christine (Paul) Romkey, and Mary Ann ( Slyvain ) Roy; two brothers, Peter (Lisa) Thomas, and Gregory (Cathy) Thomas; daughters, Holly Kent, Shelley Thomas-MacDonald, and Paula Gaetz; son, Jerome (Angie) Thomas; grandchildren, McKayla, Michael, Adam , Corey, Brandon, Shawn, and Ashley; also his great grandchildren that he loved dearly, Elaina, Ariel, and Joseph. Dad had a passion in his younger years of fishing and hunting with the boys up in Mooseland, and Musquodoboit area of Eastern Shore. For many years, he lived along the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, in Mooseland, and Little Harbour. Then later in life, they fell in love with the Annapolis Valley and there he resided with his loving wife for their last 15 years in Lawrencetown before her passing in 2012. Within this past year, he resided at Ivy Meadows in Beaver Bank where he truly felt like he was at home, with staff and residences, especially his new found friend, papa Joe. Many thanks to the staff at Ivy Meadows, and most recently the nursing and medical staff at the Dartmouth General, for their compassionate care in his final days. A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:30 pm Thursday, December 22, from Dartmouth Funeral Home, Dartmouth. A funeral service will take place 2pm Friday from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Canadian Diabetes Association or the Lymphedema Clinic in Halifax.
