Obituary of Joan Audrey Ward Dawes
~~Ward-Dawes, Joan Audrey 84 of Bridgetown passed away March 26, 2017 in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born August 2, 1932 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Violet (Gillett) Ward. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert “Eric” Dawes and daughter, Joan Elaine “Kim” Dawes Clark. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Angus Watt) Dawes-Watt of Ottawa; grandchildren Caitlyn MacFarlane, Alexandra Filion, Jonathan "Drew" Clark-Dawes and Christian Clark; eleven great-grandchildren, four nieces and nephews and several cousins, and Kim’s husband, Richard Clark. Shortly after her passing, Joan welcomed another great grandchild, a wee girl by the name of Maxima Severine into the family. Joan loved cooking, books, music, being with her friends and cats. Over the years, many cats in the local area enjoyed her company and will miss her greatly. Joan taught skating, worked with the ACW, sang in the choir at St. James, volunteered at the Bridgetown Area Food Bank and worked at the local level in politics - she was a very busy, happy woman. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bridgetown. A Memorial Service will be held May 17, 2017 at 2 PM from St. James Anglican Church, Bridgetown with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Bridgetown Area Food Bank.
